Meet Adriana

Adriana* came from an incredibly hard place. She had a history of childhood trauma, abusive relationships, and extreme mental health struggles. She frequently engaged with local law enforcement and was often found lying in her own excrement on the sidewalks of Salem.

It took years of kindness, engagement, and check-ins from our MWVCAA team before Adriana was ready to accept help. Adriana's daughter and our staff convinced her to go to an assisted living house. While there, Adriana was able to receive medical and mental health treatment, and slowly, she started to rebuild her life.

We worked with Adriana and the Salem Housing Authority to help her get an emergency housing voucher, and with time, she found an apartment and now has a safe place to call home.

You can donate above to help the over 1,800 community members like Adriana living unsheltered.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are a very effective way to give to charities, where donors set aside money to be granted to charitable organizations. You can support MWVCAA through a Donor Advised Fund grant. When processing a DAF grant, search for MWVCAA by tax ID number (23-7056987).

Securities/Stock

To make a gift of stock, please notify the Development Department in advance of the transfer by contacting (971) 304-6848 or development@mwvcaa.org.

Retirement Plans and IRAs

A retirement plan, such as an IRA, can be a smart source for charitable giving. If you are 70½ years or older, an IRA charitable rollover gift allows you to direct up to $100,000 tax-free to MWVCAA each year from your traditional IRA, which satisfies your required minimum distribution and reduces your taxable income. Contact your IRA custodian to request a direct distribution to MWVCAA. Married taxpayers who meet QCD requirements and file joint returns can donate $100,000 from each spouse’s IRA, for a total of $200,000 annually.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many companies match donations made by their employees to registered nonprofit organizations. You can ask your company if they might be able to match your donation this year. The impact of your gift to MWVCAA could potentially be doubled!
