On June 1st, the Salem Navigation Center began accepting unhoused clients from throughout our community.

The Navigation Center is a low-barrier homeless shelter operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The facility was built by the City of Salem and The ARCHES Project acts as the service provider, providing housing, employment, navigation and day-to-day services.
Navigation centers have show strong success in helping people exit homelessness. They help people make a first step in accessing services, allowing people of all genders to stay at the center and do not require sobriety for entry.

Because we are a grant-funded agency, we're able to provide many services that are essential to the unhoused population, but there are additional needs we'd like to meet that are not covered by grants. That's where our community comes in!

The Navigation Center is in need of canned food and non-perishable items for our residents as well as pet supplies for our residents' companions, which are always welcome.

Any funds donated will be used to purchase these much needed items for our residents and their pets.

We want to ensure our unhoused neighbors have the best care possible as they undergo the incredibly challenging task of transitioning from a life on the street into a life in their own home and employment.

The tiniest bit of assistance in this period of their lives can go a long way, so please consider becoming of the helping hands that reaches out to our neighbors in need.

We also accept physical donations! Please contact 503-881-1695 or navigationcenter@mwvcaa.org for more information about accepted donations, drop off locations, etc.

Pantry items/staples we accept include: Pasta noodles, canned vegetables, soups, flour, oatmeal, pasta sauce, rice, granola bars, and sugars.
Pet supplies we accept include: Dog/cat food, food and water bowls, leashes, harness of all sizes, toys, litter boxes, cat litter, treats, potty bags and cat scratchers.
